The Future Terminator is a minor antagonist in the 1984 sci-fi action film The Terminator, the first installment of the Mainstream Timeline of the Terminator franchise.

It is a T-800 sent to infiltrate and assault a Resistance bunker where Kyle Reese was located.

It was portrayed by the late Franco Columbu.

Biography[]

While Kyle was resting after a patrol, the Future Terminator attempted to infiltrate the base, but was detected by the guard dogs of the entrance security team. Immediately upon detection, it threw off it's cloak to reveal RBS-80 and began killing every human within it's range. Kyle himself fired his Plasma Pulse Rifle at the Future Terminator, but it was undaunted. It then killed the dogs before shooting behind Reese, causing an explosion that threw him forward as it endlessly fired at the soldiers. Kyle looked up only to see the faint glow of the Future Terminator's infrared eyes as it continued to kill the inhabitants of the bunker.

Despite not being shown happening, the Future Terminator stop functioning following Skynet's destruction. Despite this, Kyle would still recall his encounter with the Future Terminator when he was sent back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor from the T-800 sent back to kill her.

Trivia[]

  • Franco Columbu was actually a good friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger and fellow bodybuilder.
  • The Future Terminator was originally going to appear in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, where it was trying to reach it's rifle only to be finally destroyed by Resistance soldiers. The scene was cut due to lack of time and budget, but was preserved in the film's novelization.
  • The Future Terminator's appearance is used for the images of the T-808 and the T-810 Infiltrators from The Terminator Collectible Card Game, with it's model number being referred to as CSM-102 and CSM-107 respectively.
  • The Terminator RPG classifies the Future Terminator as a T-700, adding that the reason for it's eyes behind visibly red at the end of the flashback sequence is a defect in said series.
  • There are several Infiltrator whose design apparently based on the Future Terminator, such as an Infiltrator in Mary Randall's flashback in the second issue of The Terminator: The Enemy Within, and T-800 Infiltrators in the non-canon video game The Terminator: Dawn of Fate.
  • The T-800 from the Terminator: Resistance DLC "Infiltrator Mode" bears resemblance to the Future Terminator.
  • The Rogue's action in the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles episode "Dungeons & Dragons" is similar to the Future Terminator. Also in the same episode, the apparent aftermath of the attack on the base from the Future Terminator is seen by Derek Reese and a few other soldiers when they return.
