Penny, also known as Cassiopeia and The Big Boss, is a major character of the 2022 video games Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. She is an introverted young girl who is the secret anti-villainous leader of Team Star, the evil team of the game.
Personality[]
Penny is a timid girl, mainly hiding away from people in her room. She is, however, a strong leader, leading her team, Team Star, so they don't become criminals (outside of the petty crimes they have committed), and keep them safe. During "Operation Starfall", she wishes to disband Team Star, as to keep her friends from being expelled, showing how much she cares for the people she calls her friends. During the final story, she acts as a voice of reason (alongside Arven), as to keep her new friends safe from the Paradox Pokémon.
Biography[]
Not much is known about Penny. She is a student at Naranja/Uva Academy; however, it is unknown what she studies and what she does there. She is in the same grade as the protagonist. 18 months before the events of the game, she formed Team Star as a way to help those who have been bullied into protecting themselves. After the battle with Ortega (one of Team Star's bosses), it gets revealed that the mysterious leader of Team Star came from Galar. After defeating all five bosses, it is revealed that Penny is the big boss of Team Star, confirming that her native region was Galar.
Appearance[]
Penny is a short girl, always seen in a hoodie with a small Poké Ball in the center, wearing butterfly leggings, a short, transparent skirt, snow boots, circular glasses, and wearing a fluffy Eevee backpack. Her hair is blue with a red front, and she has green eyes.

- Penny's alias is named after the constellation Cassiopeia, which is named after the vain mother of Andromeda. This is ironic as Penny is a very insecure and timid person.
- Despite being the main antagonist of the "Starfall Street" storyline, Penny is more of an anti-villain due to her only trying to help her friends and prevent them from being expelled. Also, it's revealed towards the end of the storyline that she only manipulated the player's character since she was afraid Team Star might get angry at her if she decided to disband them herself.
- Penny could also be considered as the deuteragonist of the Starfall Street storyline since the storyline centers primarily around her trying (via manipulating the player character) to get Team Star disbanded in order to prevent them from being expelled from the academy.
- Penny’s distinction of being an evil team leader who is not actually evil is similar to Piers, the leader of Team Yell.
- Penny refers to her Pokémon (which are all Eeveelutions) as "Veevees".
- Like N, Penny is both the leader of the villains and one of the three rivals of the main protagonist. Unlike N however, she isn't the honorary champion of the Pokémon League and isn't the trainer of a Legendary Pokémon.
- Penny is the second female evil team leader after Lusamine, and the first to be the leader of a team that follows the standard “Team [Noun]” naming convention.
- While both Ariana and Blue Eyes were both set up as female team leaders in their respective games, they were secretly decoys for the actual team leaders of their respective organizations (Giovanni and Archer for Ariana and Purple Eyes for Blue Eyes) and do not count as the de facto leaders of their teams.
- Like Lusamine, Penny initially hides that she's the leader of the evil team. Unlike her, Penny is also a rival of the main character and is around the same age as the player character and their friends instead of older.
- While Penny isn't truly a villain nor evil, she is the leader of an evil team, and hacks into the Pokémon League's management system and the player's Rotom Phone to send them messages and League Points, and hacking devices is a federal crime, so she still qualifies for a place on this wiki.
- In the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, it's revealed that Peony is Penny's father based on him saying the former's catchphrase "Adven-tour" in a video call with her. This also make Chairman Rose Penny's uncle.
- Upon this reveal, many fans were confused on Penny's skin tone being much lighter than her father's, which could be explained by her being adopted or inheriting her mother's lighter skin tone instead.
- Despite her shy nature, Penny seems to enthusiastically dance when possessed by Pecharunt, causing some fans to joke that befitting of her nerdy nature, Penny practices anime dances in secret, hence her enthusiasm.
