Father is the main antagonist of Cartoon Network's Codename: Kids Next Door. He was a paternal figure who was an ultimate figure of authority, leader of the Delightful Children From Down the Lane, and the archenemy against the KND organization. His ultimate goal was to destroy the Kids Next Door so that adults could rule the world unopposed. Father's body was completely black with a red lining, which gave him a silhouette-like appearance with few other discernible features, the most notable being his bright yellow eyes.
Father was voiced by Maurice LaMarche, who also voiced Brain from Pinky and the Brain.
Father resided at the Delightful Mansion From Down The Lane with his children, the Delightful Children From Down the Lane, where he plotted to destroy the KND. Father usually sent other villains to carry out his work and rarely attacked the KND personally, and was thus much less often seen than the Delightful Children. Father was first seen in Operation: G.R.O.W.U.P., the Season 1 finale and the first 30 minute episode of the series.
It was revealed in Operation Z.E.R.O. that Father's true identity was Benedict Uno (also called Ben for short), the brother of Monty Uno and thus the uncle of Numbuh 1. The Delightful Children were also explained to be the result of a Delightfulization Chamber that blew a fuse when used on the kidnapped members of Sector Z.
As a child, Benedict Uno lived in fear of his own father and was obedient to him. When his brother Monty Uno decided to rebel against Grandfather, Benedict insisted that he would stand no chance against his power, and, as a result of his cowardice, did not join his brother in the uprising, which ultimately did prove successful.
Sometime between that incident and the present day of the series, Benedict took up his father's mantle as the king of evil and the ultimate oppressor of children, became a demonic being similar to Grandfather, and vowed to destroy the Kids Next Door.
At one point, Father created the Delightfulization Chamber, a device designed to turn any kid into a mindlessly obedient and perfectly behaved child. The first working Delightfulization Chamber was used on Sector Z. During the Delightfulization Process, the machine blew a fuse for reasons unknown, caused it to explode, and amplified its effects eleventy billion-fold, which created the Delightful Children From Down The Lane, who from then on, would be Father's "children" and most powerful allies.
Other notable minions of Father included the Ice Cream Men, the Six-Gum Gang and the Teen Ninjas, including his apprentice, Cree Lincoln, and his captain, Chad Dickson. Father did not directly control the majority of the KND's rogues gallery, but frequently employed the services of other villains who, while otherwise operating independently, were readily willing to serve him. Even the Delightful Children frequently appeared without Father. Father was occasionally seen attending the villain meetings of Mr. Boss, who regularly functioned as a leader of the series' lesser villains. In Operation: C.A.K.E.D F.O.U.R. and the comic story Operation: H.I.S.T.O.R.I.E., Father was said to be the head of a company called "Evil Adult Industries Inc." It was also implied that Father employed several children similar to the DCFDTL throughout the world, as shown in the Interesting Twins From Beneath The Mountain and the Rowdy Hooligans From Across the Square.
Father was first encountered by Sector V in Operation: G.R.O.W.U.P, in which he allowed his children to use the "Really Really Incredibly Destructive Machine" and was fought by the then-adult Numbuh 1 inside his mansion at the episode's climax.
Father's second major appearance was in Operation: G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S, the culmination of a story arc that consisted of several loosely-related episodes. Here, he activated a device which created a rapidly-expanding energy field that turned all KND operatives caught in it into animals. Father was defeated by Tommy Gilligan after the young boy decommissioned himself in order to gain immunity to the energy field, and subsequently used Father's DNA with the KND Code Module, made him a member of the Kids Next Door, and caused him to be turned into a panther. In Operation: Z.E.R.O., Father employed the help of nearly every villain in the KND universe and organized a massive attack on the KND in which he stole the Re-Commissioning Module and used it to revive Grandfather, intending for his father to destroy the KND for him and then rule the world alongside him. Instead, Grandfather called his son a failure and ordered him to leave. Toward the end of the movie, the newly-reawakened Numbuh 0 went to his brother for help and offered him a second chance to stand up to their father alongside him. Father ultimately accepted the offer, and during the confrontation with Grandfather, went into a violent rage against his abusive father, only to immediately and abruptly abandon the fight for no apparent reason, and said that he no longer cared about anyone or anything. At the end of the film, after Grandfather was defeated, Father was seen in his kitchen saying: "I hate everyone."
Father was also involved in some of the later and more elaborate "C.A.K.E.D." episodes, namely Operation C.A.K.E.D. F.O.U.R. and Operation C.A.K.E.D. F.I.V.E.. In the latter, his ancestors, the Annoyingly Cute Triplets Who Lived Upon The Hill and their mother who was Father's great-grandmother, were mentioned.
In Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S., the series finale, Father turned into a dragon after he lost his pipe during the episode's climax. At the end of the story, it was revealed that he was the person who was interviewing the grown up members of Sector V in the present day, but it was revealed that they later tricked him into thinking that Numbuh 1 was still in the Galactic KND high off in space since Numbuh 1 was revealed to have returned to Earth at that point.
In most episodes Father appeared in, he usually appeared in a dark silhouette-like suit with flames coming out when he got angry. In Operation Z.E.R.O., however, when he appeared without his silhouette suit, he wore normal glasses, black pants, suspenders, dress shoes, a white dress shirt, and a red tie. He looked the same as his negative counterpart, Daddy.
In Operation Z.E.R.O., Father (as young Benedict Uno) was very cowardly and obedient, scared of his father (whom he called Pappy), Grandfather, and refused to disobey his orders. Following his footsteps, Benedict became Father, wore a silhouette suit, hated all children, and went as far to delightfulize the members of Sector Z into the Delightful Children Fron Down the Lane. He was considered to be the KND's worst enemy.
Father was, above all else, the cruelest of all the villains throughout the series, and attempted to destroy or take over the Kids Next Door Organization, who considered him as the greatest enemy that they've ever faced (aside from the re-Commissioned Grandfather: Who took over the world in less than a day and managed to zombify almost all members of the KND). He even once tried to cook children into the Delightful Children's Birthday Cake, which would have resulted in both mass murder and cannibalism.
Ironically, despite being an adult, Father was still shown to have child-like features, such as when he cuddled into a ball and rocked back and forth when Numbuh 362 threatened to feed him broccoli. He was also very ill-tempered and impatient, and burst into flames when angered.
PowersFather possesses several supernatural powers, which he has inherited from his demonic father. His offensive powers tend to become more active when he is angered. In addition, Father possesses these powers,
- Nigh-Immortality (this was seen by Grandfather, who has powers similar to Father, did not age ever since the 19th century & is nearly-impossible to kill or harm. It's possible that Father is also immortal).
- Extremely Powerful Pyrokinetic Abilities
- Superhuman Strength
- Levitation (seen in Operation: C.A.K.E.D F.I.V.E., Operation: G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S., and other episodes)
- Psionic Abilities (seen in Operation: C.A.K.E.D F.I.V.E.)
- Self-Replication (seen in Operation: I.T.)
- Shape-Shifting (seen in Operation: T.R.A.I.N.I.N.G., Operation: G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S. and Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S.)
- In Operation: H.O.T.S.T.U.F.F., Numbuh 3 (although not a villain) who served as the episode's main antagonist (and even parodied Regan McNeil) appeared to have fire-like powers similar to Father although they were not even related. It was even notable that the latter's powers were a lot more powerful than him.
- Although Father was the Big Bad throughout the KND series, he served as the tertiary antagonist in Operation Z.E.R.O when he was outranked by the episode's true main villain.
- Father is very similar to Hades from the 1997 Disney Animated Adaptation of Hercules, Because they are both possessing similar pyrokinetic powers, they are both comedic and competent villains.
- Father is very similar to the Metal gear solid 5 villian "the man on fire" possessing similar pyrokinetic powers and near immortality. further similarities include the fact both characters are demonic humanids with a true human indentity and their general appearance both have yellow glowing eyes and lack a mouth. Also both have a weakness for water. Despite this however. The man on fire is believed to be a true demon Brough back from hell, however father is a simple human with demonic based powers.
