Villain Overview

Who found a pitiful orphan bird and plucked her out of the gutter? Who shared his food with her and I hasten to add, taught her a trade? Who?
~ The Falcon reminding Margalo as he was the one who raised her, and also his most famous quote.
You should have stayed in your little hole, mouse boy. The party's over, furface!
~ Falcon's last lines as he prepares to kill Stuart.

The Falcon is the main antagonist of the second installament from 2002 family film Stuart Little 2 and the episode "A Little Bit Country" in Stuart Little: The Animated Series the third installament of the franchise

He is a cruel peregrine falcon who is described to be feared by all animals who ever encountered him and is known for stealing objects, including a wedding ring belonging to Mrs. Little that he planned to steal and keep for himself. He also serves as Margalo's former surrogate father, former boss, and former slave-driver, and the arch-nemesis of the titular protagonist.

In the film, he is voiced by James Woods, who also played Hades in Disney's Hercules, himself in Family Guy, Lex Luthor in Justice League Action, Owlman in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Dr. Phillium Benedict in Recess: School's Out!, Gloomius Maximus in Rolie Polie Olie, Captain Ahab in The Adventures of Moby Dick, Ned Trent in The Specialist, George Sheffield in Scarface: The World is Yours, Martin Walker in White House Down, Lester Diamond in Casino, Byron De La Beckwith in Ghosts of Mississippi and Maximilian "Max" Bercovicz in Once Upon a Time in America. In the animated TV series, he was voiced by Pat Fraley.

Physical Appearance[]

Falcon, true to his namesake, is a large, slender, muscular and sinister-looking peregrine falcon. His feather plumage is generally dark blue topping his white hues and underside. From his neck down to his undercarriage, his white feathers have black speckles notably visible starting from his chest and becoming more prominent around his abdomen. He has a long, curved, sharp beak that well compliments his narrowed eyelids that seem to be worn in an almost constant scowl, indicative of his wickedness. He also has large feet with long, razor sharp talons he commonly uses to catch and/or kill his intended targets.

Personality[]

Snowbell: What do you know about a bird called "Falcon"?
Monty: "Falcon"? Ohh, that's a bad guy, you don't wanna fool with him.
Stuart: Do you know where we can find him?
Monty: You don't wanna find him. You don't want to have anything to
do with him. Trust me! He'd eat you so fast, you'd be a pile of falcon poop before you could yell for help! Falcons are vicious! They grab you by the back of the neck and carry you so high you can't even see the ground, and then they drop ya, and by the time you hit the pavement, they just drink what's left through a straw!'
~ Monty explaining about Falcon to Stuart and Snowbell.

The Falcon is Margalo's egotistical master who treats Margalo much more like a pawn than a daughter figure in a very abusive and traitorous way. He is shown to be extensively callous in his means of manipulation, as he threatened Margalo to get Mrs. Little's ring for him, otherwise he kills Stuart and has him for lunch.

By the time Margalo's loyalty with him wavers, the Falcon's darkest side eventually come to light: an altogether ruthless, unpleasant, and cold-hearted bird even more cruel than suggested by his first impression. He won't hesitate to kill those who stand against or oppose him in any way, which he proved by him almost killing Stuart and Snowbell (despite the fact the latter had done little if anything to provoke him) in ways that exude utter sadism. His cruelty is even further demonstrated by his willingness to kill Margalo and would've easily done it without remorse had Stuart failed to stop him.

History[]

Beginnings[]

It was revealed in Stuart Little 2 that the Falcon had found Margalo when she was an orphan and took her to his lair and he shared everything with her, even though he treated her more like a slave rather than a daughter figure.

Stuart Little 2[]

In the year of 2002, the Falcon bullied all creatures living in Manhattan, including Margalo, making him a feared bird. He's known for stealing jewels and making Margalo work as his pawn to scam families for him, including the Littles. One day, when Margalo lands in Stuart Little's car as they were being pursued by the Falcon, she gains the trust of Stuart and the rest of the Little family.

When the Littles were all out the next day, the Falcon comes across Margalo and when he asks for any "valuables" the family has, she tells him that they only have a ring. The Falcon inquired for anything else and Margalo states that they were a kind, loving family that have each other to care for, much to his disgust. The Falcon grows suspicious of Margalo actually beginning to like the family as much as they like her. Margalo remarks that no one else invited her to live with them, to which the Falcon reminds her that he was the one who raised her and that she was there to do as he told her and get the valuables, not to play around.

The more time Margalo spent with the family, she grew to like them and Stuart. The Falcon notices this one night when he spies on her date with Stuart and sees how close they've both become. Finally losing his patience, the Falcon storms in on Margalo the next day when she was bathing in the birdbath and threatens her to fetch Mrs. Little's ring or else he'll eat Stuart. Margalo is forced to go through with this and she steals the ring and leaves later on in the evening. Stuart becomes concerned and worried about Margalo gone missing with only her pin left behind.

Stuart suspects that the Falcon kidnapped her and sneaks out the house with Snowbell to go find her. They find out from Monty that the Falcon lives in the vacant observation deck of the Pishkin Building. Stuart arrives with a small bow and arrow as his defense weapon. He confronts the Falcon and asks him where she is, but then Margalo shows up remorseful for her actions. The Falcon tells Stuart that Margalo's been scamming him and reveals Mrs. Little's ring. As Margalo explains to Stuart that she didn't mean to upset him, the Falcon mocks Stuart saying that he really thought that they were really friends, though Margalo stated that she actually was his friend.

Furious, the Falcon picks up Stuart, takes him outside the building and with a cruel smile, drops him attempting to let him fall to his death. When Margalo tries to come to Stuart's aid, the Falcon restrains her and imprisons her in an empty paint can to provide her with an "attitude adjustment" and leaves. Fortunately, Stuart had landed on a garbage truck, but it takes him to a garbage barge.

Meanwhile, Snowbell, getting worried about Stuart, makes his way to the Pishkin Building and releases Margalo after finding her. However, the Falcon arrives and Snowbell hides in the paint can, but the Falcon spots Snowbell and states that he dislikes "canned food". As he prepares to throw Snowbell off the building, Margalo stops him and states that she's fed up with being his slave before leaving with the ring. The Falcon gives chase, but before he could catch up to her, Stuart arrives in the nick of time in his repaired biplane and rescues Margalo. A chase is ensued throughout the city and the Falcon attempts to crash the biplane by picking it up with his talons and ripping off the top, but Stuart manages to take control of the plane again and pulls up.

Stuart leaves Margalo to keep her safe from the danger and faces the Falcon. Stuart reflects light from his mother's ring into the Falcon's eyes, temporarily blinding him and allowing Stuart to parachute away. The Falcon's vision clears too late as Stuart's biplane then rams into him, causing him to lose several of his feathers and explodes into pieces, sending the ruthless bird of prey plummeting several meters out of the sky right into a trash can where Monty was looking for food in.

Stuart Little: The Animated Series[]

Stuart Little The Animated Series Falcon

In the episode "A Little Bit Country", the Falcon returns. in 2003 He has now made a trio of new crow henchmen and is out to exact revenge on Stuart and his friends. The Falcon chases Stuart, Snowbell and Monty around his Uncle Crenshaw's new farm. Soon, the Falcon corners both Snowbell and Monty. Monty warns the Falcon to back off since cats eat birds, only for the Falcon to scare them with his talons threatening to kill and eat them along with Stuart. Snowbell then corrects Monty, telling the Falcon what he meant to say was "cats meet birds", then introduces himself to the Falcon before begging him to let him live.

Before the Falcon can kill Snowbell and Monty, Stuart distracts the Falcon by taunting him. The Falcon was then defeated again by crashing into a chicken coop, fell down, then Snowbell closes the door and locked it, trapping him. Snowbell then tells the menacing bird that he has the right to remain silent. After Uncle Crenshaw comes back to the farm announcing that he was selling it, Stuart, Snowbell, and Monty decided not to tell anyone about Falcon being trapped in the chicken coop, while the bird struggles to claw his way out. It's unknown what happened to the Falcon afterwards. There is a possibility that he either died of starvation in his imprisonment or was taken away by animal control to a better location when a new owner of the farm discovers the trapped bird.

Quotes[]

Falcon: Remember me?
Margalo: You scared me.
Falcon: What can I say? I'm a scary guy. So, Margalo, what's going on here? You case the joint? Any valuables? Come on, thrill me, chill me.
Margalo: They ain't got much. The mom's got a ring, but it's only two carats.
Falcon: Alright, okay, fine. So, what
else have they got?
Margalo: [nervously] Well, you know, not that much. I mean, they mostly just have... each other.
Falcon: Awww. A moment while I
vomit.
Margalo: Why don't we just try somewhere else?
Falcon: Why? Because you're set up here! They trust you; they like you. [smiles slyly] Ahh, and maybe, you like them. [Margalo scoffs and tries to fly away, but he follows her] Hey, Margalo, come on, huh? Don't con a conman.
Margalo: Well, nobody else ever invited me to live with them.
Falcon: Oh, really? Who found a pitiful orphaned bird, and plucked her out of the gutter? Who shared his food with her? And, I hasten to add, taught her a trade? Who?
Margalo: You did.
Falcon:
I did, right! (sternly) Well, then, straighten up and fly right. And remember, you are here on business. You're not here to play around! [flies away]
Margalo: Come on, Falcon. When I'm on a job, I
never play around.
~ Falcon's first lines.
Falcon: Did you really think I wouldn't find out?
Margalo: What are you talking about?
Falcon: I'm talking about you, and your little mouse friend. Big mistake. Never make a friend I can eat. Now get me that ring! Or the mouse... is lunch.
~ Falcon threatening Margalo to bring him Mrs. Little's ring or else if she fails him, he will eat Stuart.
Stuart: Margalo? Margalo? You up here? Is anybody here?
Falcon: I'm here.
Stuart: (aims his bow and arrow at Falcon) I came for my friend Margalo. If you've hurt her, I'll...
Falcon: You'll what?
Stuart: You better tell me right now. Is she alright?
Falcon: Why don't you ask her yourself, Whiskers? Margalo? (Margalo appears behind Stuart)
Stuart: Margalo. Margalo, run! Fly away while I've got him covered. What are you waiting for?! [Margalo just gives a sad look]
Falcon: Oh, this kid's priceless. Tell me, Cheese-face, does any of this sound familiar? "Oh, my wing. I don't think I can fly."
Stuart: What are you talking about?
Falcon: I can't drill through the wood. She scammed you, okay? She played you like a harp.
Stuart: (heartbroken) Margalo, what does he mean?
Falcon: Okay, now it's getting sad. Maybe
this will clear things up. (holds Mrs. Little's ring in his talons)
Stuart: (shocked) My mom's ring.
Margalo: I'm so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you.
Stuart: But, Margalo, why?
Falcon: Don't be upset, mouse boy. She has conned smarter than you. Or did you think you were special? A real friend?
Margalo: I didn't lie about that, Stuart. You
are my friend.
Stuart: Then come with me.
Falcon: (snatches up Stuart with his talons) She's not going anywhere.
Stuart: Oh, yes, she is. (fires his arrow at Falcon's face with no effect, but Falcon glares at him)
Falcon: Was that your best shot? Now, let me show you mine. (carries Stuart out of his lair)
Margalo: Don't hurt him, Falcon!
Falcon: I won't hurt him. The Sidewalk will!!
Stuart: Can't we talk this over? (Falcon drops Stuart, sending him falling towards the streets below while screaming)
Margalo: (racing after Stuart) No, Stuart! (tries to save Stuart, but Falcon grabs her to prevent Margalo from saving Stuart before taking her back inside the building) Let me go! No, Falcon! NO!!
~ Falcon revealing to Stuart that Margalo had been working with him and revealing that she was the one who stole Mrs. Little's ring before proceeding to drop Stuart towards the streets below after the latter's failed attempt to attack him before preventing Margalo from saving him, unaware that Stuart had survived by landing on a garbage truck, which takes him to a garbage barge that was leaving New York.
A few days in here should provide you with an attitude adjustment.
~ Falcon imprisoning Margalo in a paint can to prevent her from getting out.
Well, well, well. The canary is out of her cage. And how nice. She's brought a friend for dinner. Too bad I don't like canned food.
~ Falcon noticing that Snowbell has freed Margalo from the paint can before attacking him.
Margalo: Don't do it, Falcon, or else!
Snowbell: Do what?! What's he doing?!
Falcon: Or else what?
Margalo: Or else, you'll lose...this. (holds up Mrs. Little's ring)
Falcon: (coldly) Put that down, Margalo!
Margalo: I'm through doing what you tell me to do. I'm leaving you, Falcon, forever!
Falcon: Oh, and what do you think you'll be without
me?!
Margalo: Free. (Flies off)
Falcon:
Big mistake! I'll be back for you, furball.
Snowbell: Don't hurry!
~ Falcon realizing that Margalo has defected from him and seeing that she is done with all the dirty work that he'd given her before proceeding to chase her when seeing that she has the ring with her.
Going up?
~ Falcon preparing to pick up Stuart's plane with his talons.
A mouse needs to know his limitations.
~ Falcon ripping off the top of Stuart's plane so that he would send Stuart and Margalo falling to their doom.

Trivia[]

  • Due to him having a yellow muzzle with a black beak, a spotted chest and city habitat, fans identify the Falcon as a peregrine falcon.
  • Falcon also has the heavy brow ridges akin to a hawk; Tony Bancroft, who helped supervise Falcon's animation, said this was to give him a foreboding frowning look. This is one design similarity that Falcon shares with Shan Yu's falcon, Hayabusa, from Disney's 1998 animated film Mulan, which, coincidentally, Tony Bancroft also worked on as a co-director.
  • The Falcon raising an orphaned Margalo could be a reference to the fact that falcon puppets are used to feed orphaned birds.
  • The Falcon is the sole antagonist in the second film; originally, he was going to have an army of pigeons to help him out.
    • In the second movie, the Falcon works alone, but in the TV show, he has crows for henchmen.
  • Falcon's attempts to kill Snowbell and Monty shows that he doesn't care about the fact that cats are natural predators to birds like himself.
    • Falcon is similar to Sarousch from The Hunchback of Notre Dame II; because he has a grip on the main character's crush like Falcon, he is a thief and he likes to cheat others to get what he wants, in addition they have the same Finnish voice actor Jukka-Pekka Palo.
