|“||... Without love, it cannot be seen? ... Hah. That's backwards. Because of love, you end up seeing things that don't even exist.||„|
|~ Erika Furudo|
Erika Furudo, also known as The Witch of Truth, is a detective in Umineko no Naku Koro ni. She is main antagonist in Episodes 5 and 6, End of the Golden Witch and Dawn of the Golden Witch, later anti-villainess in the series.
She drifts alone ashore during a conference the family had in 1986. She is highly intelligent, and has a huge interest in puzzles and mystery novels. However, it was revealed that she had an inferiority complex, and was also rather cruel. It was revealed that she was a piece that the Witch of Miracles Bernkastel made in her image, and bears a similarity to her. Her name is derived from Frederica Bernkastel, and Rika Furude in Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. She was also able to get through the limitations imposed in the first four games and officially became the 18th person. After the events of the twilight, she pins Natsuhi Ushiromiya as the culprit. By using Mystery, against Fantasy, she is able to deny the existence of witches, killing Beatrice in the process. Because of this, she earns the title Witch of Truth and Game Master. Unfortunately for her, Battler becomes the Endless Sorcerer. Since there are two possible truths in the game, the game ends as a tie. Desiring vengeance she vowed to expose the truth concerning witches and kill Battler. In one game, she beheads five members, and also in another game, she tries to forcibly marry Battler, though her wedding was foiled by Beatrice. She also had a love of chopsticks.
In the meta world, Erika met her final end in a duel with Battler and Beatrice, in which she was shot to death, while on the game board, she is said to have possibly drowned.
