When Tai entered Datamon's laboratory, he rescued the real Sora and Biyomon and Tai gave the Digivices back to Sora, allowing Biyomon to Digivolve to Birdramon, much to Datamon's dismay. After Etemon found Datamon, Datamon tried to kill Etemon by dropping him in the Dark Network. He did this by dropping himself while strapped onto Etemon.
