“ | All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. | „ |
~ Napoleon's motto. |
Animals are common in many settings, whether they be true Animals (e.g. Cujo) or Anthropomorphic Characters (e.g. Shadow the Hedgehog): a True Animal is not really evil but rather guided by instincts or hunger (e.g. Jaws) while some who display human features may be cleverer (e.g. Dr. Blowhole). Animals can also be Predators such as tigers, foxes, bears, sharks, birds-of-prey and snakes.
Aside from modern-day animals, ancient prehistoric-era creatures (dinosaurs, flying reptiles, marine reptiles, etc.) can also be Animals in fiction.
However, Anthropomorphic Animals are usually the direct opposite and guided by human emotions and ideals (e.g. Jenner's love of power, Hopper's hatred of opposition, etc.).
Some of these animals may be pets or guard/attack dogs of characters, including other evildoers.
Do not add Animal Cruelty to characters who are somehow Animals unless exceptions are found; they can often qualify for Misanthropes.
