Carnivore was a villain from X-Factor and one of numerous lesser-known Marvel Comics villains, he should not be confused with the Exemplar known as Carnivore, another and more prominent Marvel villain.
Dick used his mutant dinosaur power to commit robberies...murder...mayhem...postal fraud...all the time blackening the family name of Chalker and inciting mutant hatred in his own kin.
Following the deaths of his relatives Vic and Rick in the pursuit of mutant extermination, Dick decided that their deaths were on his conscience and that the only way he could atone was to go forth and wipe out every last mutant, so that no one could misuse their powers the way he had. When he had killed all mutants, he planned to complete his mission by destroying himself. However, he got a little ahead of himself by running out in the road and getting run over and killed by a truck.
Chalker's spirit was sent to Satannish's realm of Hell.
Satannish (as Nick Cloot) resurrected Dick Chalker—alongside Professor Vic Chalker and Number One Fan, as X-Factor's greatest enemies, sending him to join Charon in his attack on X-Factor. Carnivore struggled against Multiple Man and Wolfsbane. He stunned Wolsbane by tossing her off of him when she bit him. He then bit Multiple Man's hand, but Madrox used the impact to create another duplicate...within Carnivore, causing the dino-mutant to explode.
Shortly thereafter, Satannish/Cloot took Charon as his own prisoner, and the Chalkers three were never seen nor heard from again.
Powers and Abilities
Dick Chalker was a humanoid dinosaur. He was 7–8 feet tall, possessed a semi-prehensile tail, along with leathery skin, and razor sharp claws and teeth. He possessed some degree of superhuman strength (Enhanced human). It is unclear whether he was an actually poikilotherm ("cold-blooded").
