Bartok is the former secondary antagonist in the 1997 movie Anastasia. He is an albino bat and assistant to Rasputin. Unlike Rasputin, Bartok does not want to kill Anastasia and tries to sway Rasputin from his goal. After the demise of his boss, he reformed and presumably married an unnamed female albino bat who kissed him.
He was later the main protagonist of the spin-off movie Bartok the Magnificent.
Bartok is see for the first time during the entrance of Rasputin in the royal palace of the Romanov, on the shoulder of his master, before flying away. After the curse of Rasputin and during the assault of the revolutionaries to the palace, he spy from a window the escape of Anastasia and warn Rasputin of it, but when the monk attempt to stop and kill Anastasia, he drown into the glace river in front of the powerless Bartok. Ten years after the death of his master, the albino bat pick up the precious reliquary of Rasputin and conserve it in the forsaken royal palace, believing that all Romanov are death. but when he see Anastasia and the reliquary returning into life, he understand the truth, and after this he is forcly drag by the reliquary into the limbo where is imprisoned Rasputin, rejoining with him and bringing him the precious object. he assist to the Rasputin's failures of kill Anastasia, and follow him to Paris where, worried for the obsession of his master, attempt to sway him from his goal:"Sir, I am begging you, please, PLEASE, forget the girl and get a life!", but he is ignore by Rasputin: "I'll get a life, Bartok! HERS!!". During the final battle between Anastasia and Rasputin on the Pont Alexander III, Bartok understanding he is not useless no more for his master and contrary to the idea of killing Anastasia will not help the monk. After the Rasputin's demise he is see with a female bat who kiss him.
- Bartok is Don Bluth's favorite character to be drawn in Anastasia.
- His voice is provided by Hank Azaria, who is best for his voice work on the Simpsons.
- He is the second animated bat from 20th Century Fox, the first being Batty Koda from FernGully: The Last Rainforest.
- He is one of the few bats that don't sleep during the day.
- He could be similar to Iago from Disney's Aladdin franchise, because along with him, they both reformed to be heroes.
