Yokai bake zori by niban deidara n chan-d3ecc9n
A Bakezori is a type of spirit found in Japanese mythology that has its origins as a straw sandal that over a period of time gains a life of its own, becoming not only a possessed object but a class of spirit in its own right : this is due to ancient Japanese culture having a very animist view of the world, in which inanimate objects could become "alive" after a certain period of time.

Once they gained sentience the Bakezori became mischievous and were prone to taking flight and running around homes, yelling and startling those nearby : like many Japanese spirits they were neither truly good nor evil but ran by alien logic and purpose.
