Apple Bloom's Shadow isthe main antagonist of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic season 5 episode "Bloom and Gloom".

She was voiced by Michelle Creber, who also does the voice of the Apple Bloom and used to do the voice of Sweetie Belle.

The shadow appears in Apple Bloom's dream when AB is anxious about what would happen when her Cutie Mark appears and shows Apple Bloom what her life would be like if she obtains a Cutie Mark she doesn't take interest in, what would happen if she received her Cutie Mark before her friends and vice versa, and finally shows what her relatives would do if she receives a non-apple-related Cutie Mark and all end up badly. When Apple Bloom confronts the villain, she appears in shadow form with orange eyes and mouth, telling the traumatized filly she's been assisting her with her Cutie Mark problems. When Apple Bloom tries to escape the shadow, Princess Luna arrives in Apple Bloom's dream and tells her that the creature showing AB these visions is her shadow, explaining that Apple Bloom herself was causing the nightmares to herself due to her anxieties.


  • AB's shadow is the fifth antagonist AB has faced, the first two being Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, the third being the Flim Flam Brothers and the fourth being the Chimera.
  • Much like the Rarity Cloud from Sweetie Belle's dream in "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils", Apple Bloom's shadow is a thought-up villain and is a symbol for Apple Bloom's anxiety like the Rarity Cloud is a symbol for Sweetie Belle's jealousy.
    • It is also like the Headless Horse and the Olden Pony, which were in Scootaloo's dreams in "Sleepless in Ponyville" and symbolized Scootaloo's timidity.
