Yes, it was I! I, Aamon, who effected Rose's death and ensured your demise!
~ Aamon to Psaro.
Can you control your hatred!? Your loathing? But what of self-loathing? What shame could be greater than joining forces with the humans!?
~ Aamon to Psaro.

Aamon is a demonic priest who was among Psaro's highest ranked henchmen. He turns out to be the main antagonist of the story and the extra final boss in newer versions of Dragon Quest IV.

While he was supposed to be his loyal servant and one of the guardians of his castle, he is revealed to be the orchestrator behind all the tragic events that led Psaro to his corruption; most notably the death of his lover, Rose.

In the game's remakes and Dragon Quest Monsters: Dark Prince, it is also revealed that he committed these horrendous acts in order to increase Psaro's hatred for humanity while at the same time getting rid of Rose as she was softening him and convincing him that humans were not so bad, this forced him to acquire and use the "Secret of Evolution" to transform and get rid of all humans and once his transformation proved safe and successful, Aamon used the secret on himself in order to turn into a demonic god-like entity, similar to what Psaro became.

Biography[]

Dragon Quest IV[]

Aamon is first encountered in one of the towers that generate Psaro's barriers. He is one of the guardians alongside Pruslas, Barbatos and Rashaverak . The demonic priest taunts the heroes and tells them that they stand no chance. He engages them with three Drooling Ghouls at his aid. Despite his powerful magic he is seemingly defeated and disappears.

In the game's remakes, if the heroes return to Psaro's old castle with the reformed Psaro by their side, they will discover that Aamon did indeed survive and was slowly getting ready to act out his own plans but showed displeasure that Psaro failed to destroy humanity as he desired, so he instead uses the Secret of Evolution on himself to become a horrifying demonic deity similar to Psaro's final demon form. In this form, his strength proves to even dwarf Psaro's and possesses magic far greater than before. However with Psaro and the heroes' combined strength they are able to overpower him and destroy him once and for all. As he is defeated, he wondered why and denied his defeat just before exploding into nothingness.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[]

Aamon’s backstory is further explored, before the event of the game, Aamon set his eye on the travelite and chronocite, crystals that could allow user to wrap around space and time respectively. Therefore, one day Aamon marched his monster army to the ancient elf kingdom El Zetta, placing a curse on its inhabitants to turn those caught in it into Stone Golems and took their prizes. When he was done, Aamon dragged the ruins of El Zetta deep underground. At the same time, he had his minion Petrarch to put a spell on the elf transformed Stone Golems, cursing them to be controlled and keep on resurrecting them when they were destroyed.

Eventually, Aamon became the advisor of Randolfo the Tyrant and watched him cruising the young Psaro Banesword to be unable to harm monsters and banishing him away from Nadiria. However, Aamon secretly aims to usurp Randolfo one day, and attempts to use Psaro to do so. When Psaro has cleared Rank G of the Maullosseum, Aamon shows up as a hologram, commenting on how he needed to become stronger to overthrow Randolfo.

After Psaro returns from the lower echelon of Circle of Indulgence, Aamon would talk to Psaro in Rose Tower via hologram, telling him that Psaro is too weak to even stand a chance against his father, therefore Aamon convinced Psaro to harness the power of the Secret of Evolution. With that, after suggesting them to seek help from his underling Dr. Helix Helix, Aamon left.

Later, as Dolph the Destroyer slaughtered through the town of the Chosen One, after Psaro witnessed Eliza sacrificing himself, Aamon would show up and told Psaro that the dangers of humankind is that they are willing to sacrifice themselves for others, and even said that if humankind were to unite, they could even overwhelm the force of Nadiria. Thus, Aamon successfully planted the idea of destroying humanity into Psaro’s mind, slowly manipulating him into villainy.

After the reawakening of Estark, Aamon send a Succubat minion of his to impersonate Rose to distract Psaro, so that Rose would be left unguarded and killed by some human ruffians. In one timeline, Psaro will snap and use an incomplete Secret of Evolution on himself, reducing him to a mindless beast that destroys everything while Aamon rose to power. However, Toilen Trubble will use the Sand of Time stolen from Helix Helix to reverse time. When he realizes the truth, Psaro has his monster recruits slay the Succubat and then saves Rose.

Aamon retreated to his sanctum in the upper echelon of Circle of Caprice. Once Psaro and his friends infiltrated the sanctum and confronted Aamon, he mocked Psaro for joining forces with humanity and how much a shame it is to do so. Rose proceed to ask what is behind all of Aamon’s schemes, to which he answered that they were all just pawns for him to become the new ruler of Nadiria. After showing to Psaro and his friends how all the Stone Golems they have encountered and slain were elves, and that they had play a role in destroying the last of elfkind. With that, Aamon attacked them but was defeated by Psaro’s monsters. Defeated, Aamon escaped as he cursed his defeat, but not before taking the Armlet of Transmutation with him.

In Conqueror’s Keep, Aamon shows Randolfo the Armlet of Transmutation, trying to manipulate him into using the Secret of Evolution on his son Dolph the Destroyer so that Dolph would be consumed by its power and destroy Randolfo. But the tyrant saw through the scheme of Aamon and even revealed that he had obtained the true Secret of Evolution, showcasing its power, leaving the traitorous advisor to watch in shock before Dolph slashed him in the back, ending Aamon’s life for good.

Personality[]

Aamon proves to be backstabbing, vituperative, and treacherous, using Psaro's faith in monsterkind to avoid suspicion and trigger the events that would lead to the final battle of IV. His original hope was that Psaro and the Hero's party would destroy each other in their battle, enabling him to ascend to Psaro's position as the master of all monsters. He puts a great deal of effort into this plan, somehow surviving his first run-in with the Hero and later perfecting the Secret of Evolution in the event that something went amiss, if not to also give him the power to crush the opposition.

He is made even worse in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, as not only does he manipulate Psaro as he did in the original Dragon Quest IV, he also enslaves the elves by transforming them into stone golems, which gives Psaro no good choice but to put them out of their misery.

Quotes[]

Heh heh heh… All is proceeding as planned… But you’re still far too weak to wrest the throne from your father. You must grow stronger!
~ Aamon, pleased that everything is going as planned, though notes that Psaro must become stronger in order to defeat Randolfo.
