So, I feel bad about bringing this up, especially given that everybody ignored my last discussion post on a monumental level, but there’s just been something that plagued me about the Incompetent category not qualifying for Pure Evil. I actually formed a discussion that asked if certain sample villains could qualify, with one falling under the Incompetent archetype. The final agreement was that if he was considered a legitimate threat, despite his failures yet fitting all other requirements, he could in fact qualify.
So here’s what I think in regards to Incompetent villains not being Pure Evil:
When you think of an Incompetent villain, you think of the comedic and likable villains, I.e Dr. Eggman, Team Rocket, Pain & Panic, etc. Basically, the kind of villains that definitely cannot qualify.
BUT. By definition, an “Incompetent Villain” could also mean someone who otherwise fits ALL requirements and not only has pure evil intentions, but makes a legitimate attempt to perform them but just fails all the time. That’s not Pure Evil?
Now, I’m REALLY not asking for a rule change or anything, but those are just my thoughts. So what do you guys think?
